Looking for something to do in the school holidays? Join this nerdy school holiday program and learn more about the amazing ever-changing universe in a session that’s right for you.

Evening Sessions 6.00-8.00pm. These evening sessions involve a tour of the historic observatory, a presentation about the nature of movement of the sky and space and finished with wonderful star gazing with our modern telescopes. If the weather is cloudy, a virtual night sky tour will run instead of telescope viewing. They recommend dressing for the snow with layers.

Afternoon Sessions 3.30-5.00pm. The afternoon session are perfect for kids keen to learn about how the universe works. You’ll get to learn about the movement of the objects in the day and night sky, the orbits of various solar system bodies and the movement of the solar system through space. The session will end with a visitor favourite activity: launching water rockets.

Accessibility Information

Welcomes and assists people who have challenges with learning, communication, understanding and behaviour. (includes people with autism, intellectual disability, Down syndrome, acquired brain injury (ABI), dyslexia and dementia)
Caters for people with sufficient mobility to climb a few steps but who would benefit from fixtures to aid balance. (This includes people using walking frames and mobility aids)
